So, my uncle's wake was today. It was good. Felt good to be around family, and for us to be a shoulder to my aunt when she needs it. It felt good to see my ex-boss again (my aunt and I both worked with her at the nursing home).

Santa’s Coming
I looked out my window,
Snow was drifting to the ground…
Which tells me real soon,
Oh Santa will be coming round…
That put me to thinking,
Of all the nice things I need to do…

thanks to those who answered the first money question...here are thoughts for our local paper:
The powers that be are once again talking about doing away with the paper dollar and replacing it with coins. You know the coins the silver dollars that are about the size of a quarter so you confuse them all the time. No that didn’t work back 25 years ago when they tried it, now we have gold coins with different presidents on them. According to the book keepers the government would save a few million by switching. Paper money last about a year and a half to three years where a coin will last up to thirty years. One report says there are millions of dollar coins in the vault because no one want to use them. So I started doing some research, nowhere on line can I find how much the average person carries in change in their pocket. No problem I took a poll the results are from twelve people polled. One person had five dollars in change; I would have to say he was single for his pockets still jingle. Two people had three dollars and a little change. One guy said, “It varies from day to day” on this day he had five-quarters, eight-dimes, four-nickels and twelve pennies. Say what you want he was ready for a pay phone, if you can still find one. Two different people said less than a dollar one of them had three quarters, or six bits in his pocket. Another had new pants on so he had nothing while another had two dimes. Which brings the question, when panhandlers are soliciting do they still say, “hey, mister can you spare a dime?” Several said they do not carry change only a debt card, unless they are going to the laundry mat. One fellow said all he had was an expired credit card; the last one had a dollar and thirty nine cents. This required me to check my change purse, yes I carry one, and I remember when many people carried them. My dad did, as well as my granddad; good old habits are good not to break. My change purse has a fifty cent piece, one coin dollar, nine quarters, four dimes and four pennies. Pennies now if they want to quit making something maybe they should start there, I read that it takes one and a half cents to make the one cent piece. Then when is the government into saving pocket change? It has been reported that change jars all across America are full of savings. We found this to be true for several years we saved our change and counted it at the end of the year, a jar will hold on average $237 dollars well the two we counted averaged that. Since I got my change purse and use it regularly I have very little change kicking around. I also read somewhere that a quarter of Americans were relying on those change jars to help carry them into retirement.

My DCNU Part the Third Reviews (mostly spoiler free)
Some releases from last week sneaked in, so this will be my biggest week. Let's get started.
Suicide Squad: Picked this up because of the good word of mouth from these forums. I have to admit I expected this to be better. It was definitely good. Nice mix of villains here. Deadshot was the man we know and love. Harley felt a little more like the Quinn from the Arkham Asylum game but still worked. El Diablo is interesting. Opening scene got my attention. I should have liked this more but it just sort of felt average and I got more out of the Ostrander's Squad and Gail's Six. Also art wise I wasn't very into it.
is it just me ?
i am appalled about the show person of interest . the idea that someone is constantly monitoring all emails, cell phone calls, and phone calls to "prevent " crimes. excuse me , but we stilll have freedoms in america . maybe some people are willing to let go of all personal rights and privacy, but i am not. by using this, he is the bad guy. sorry, don't pull that but he does it in the best interest of society crap. what kind of society would tolerate no privacy ? are we going to have camera's follow us into bathroom and our beds ? should we leave the doors opens so police can randomly search homes? my god, we are becoming a society of cows. where is the outrage ? big brother is us.
My DCnU reviews Part the Second! (fairly spoiler free)
I clicky the picture, I buyee the comic.
Grifter:Completely unsatisfied. The plot was all built up, it set the stage pretty perfectly but I just had a big feeling of "meh" all though out. I really wanted to like this too. CAFU did a bang-up job on the pencils however, I just wish a stronger script supported it. 2 out of 5
and then i knew
i have written before about september 11.i am writting again with the tenth year anniversary. i grewup in an age of war. we had daily reports of how many soldiers died in vietnam. we saw protests and riots over drafts.
My DCnU reviews! (fairly spoiler free)
I think I'm hooked on digital, just bought without leaving my home:
Animal Man#1: Buddy is still the family man we know and love. The conversations are natural and could be lifted out of a family drama (who's husband/father is a super-hero). Some explanation of the Red and a call to help at a hospital hostage situation let's us see how Animal Man's powers work. After that the book turns itself on its head and you may think you are back in Vertigo land. Just wow. Instantly Jeff Lemire sets up a YOU MUST READ THE NEXT ISSUE situation. Fantastic art too especially in the 2nd half. Travel Foreman does creepy really well. 5 out of 5 (I love how Buddy and Ellen are written)
an exciting time for al
a week ago i found a $2,500 winning lottery ticket on the floor. i immediately ran up to the front desk to turn it in .not worth losing your job when cameras are all over the store. last monday i was rinignig up a customer.
A thank you.
Its so easy sometimes to become caught up in an emotional moment. Maybe moreso when dealing in a forum such as this. I have been on a few and seen some nasty stuff posted that attack a person personally or insults them personally. One thing that I would try to keep in mind is that there is a real person out there behind whatever was written. I am new here and happy to say that unlike other forums everyone here seems to be more civil than on others. When I first came here I really let loose on a creator in regards to a project I was not happy with. I was called on it by a moderator here and although we emailed a few times about this I was stubborn and didn't realize how rough I was in my posts. My initial reaction was who is he too say I was out of line? Well turns out in the harsh light of day after reading my posts, he was right.
REMISSION!!!

It's been quite a journey. That's what I keep thinking. From November of last year until yesterday. But this is the first time I heard the word "remission" from my oncologist. Last week we drew blood to test for my light chain ratio to verify things. Light chains combine with other substances in the blood to form a sticky protein called amyloid, which impairs the function of whichever organ in which it may accumulate and that came up clean. In fact there is barely any sign of Myeloma in my system at all. My creatnine levels in my kidneys came up normal which has been monitored heavily during this entire time since chemotherapy can really take a toll on them. If it's my time to go the side effects of chemo could very well do me in moreso than the cancer itself.
WTF is wrong with some drivers?
Do people not know that pedestrians have the right of way? Because I almost got rear ended today because I was waiting for this guy to finish walking through the intersection before I made my turn, an
He lines it down the left field line for a base hit!!!
Well, I finally completed the stem cell collection. A two week procedure that ended up taking 79 days. I've always been special.
Before things started, I had a meeting with the chief nurse of the Gold Team, the team that oversees my procedure, and a doctor covering for Dr. Bensigner while he was out. We were to go over all the procedures and I was to sign the necessary consent forms but before that started I took over the meeting. I let them know in no uncertain terms that there was NOT going to be a repeat of last time. And I know they don't want that either but I wanted them to know I wasn't going to just go with the flow on this. I told them how last time the nurse who placed an IV in my arm opened the bag the IV tube was in with his teeth and how I didn't think anything of it then but in light of the fact I was infected with a bacteria found only in the hospital environment that I didn't want that done again. They both commented that wasn't their standard procedure (sh'yeah, no sh**) but would follow up with the surgical team to make sure they knew what happened.
Work
I'm back at the restaurant after a 2 year hiatus. (It's been 2 years already since my Wal-Mart stint ended)
Anyways, our bosses at workj called for a meeting and things were revealed that wasn't that much a shock.
You Deserve A Break Today

Been on an extended break from SCCA other than a weekly appointment to make sure my health is going fine. After my bout with sepsis and several rounds of anti-biotics the medical staff there graciously offered to not revisit the stem cell harvest until after the Independence Day holiday weekend.
Why I'm digging the DCnU so far.
27 years here! 27 comic loving years. A little less when it comes to DC since I started as a Marvel Zombie. It was the Bwa-ha-ha League that made me a DC fan for ever after (got my feet wet with COIE). Comics come and go. My tastes change from one year to the next. I was down to 5 titles before the New 52 announcement. The DCnU has me more excited then I have been in a long, long time. Can I go with the flow? Most definitely, it's just comics!
Casey Anthony Verdict: my response
So Amanda Knox has to sit in jail for 23 years while this sociopathic, unrepentant ho gets to walk free?
Yeah, it was a circumstantial case, which are hard to prove. And that's the thing right there I guess, the fact that even if you know something in your heart, you can't convict if the prosecution didn't put on a convincing case.
